Life Lessons in Nature
Health and Well-Being
Nature Coaching is an approach to coaching developed in connection with Nature (not in a simple “presence” of Nature). It’s aimed at restoring human beings to their natural ability to care for themselves, emotionally, mentally and physically, of other living creatures (human and non-human), and the Earth.
Research shows that exposure to nature and outdoor environments lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormone levels, promotes physical healing, bolsters immune system function, raises self esteem, improves mood and reduces inflammation.
How can being outdoors in nature help me live a longer, healthier life?
Physical Well Being– Walking and participating in activities in nature does require some physical skills but mostly it requires that you have more awareness of your body as you interact during simple activities. Where am I in my body? Focusing inward and noticing where you are in your body helps you to become skilled at being present, fully centered and aware of your internal and external environment.
Emotional Well Being-When you are fully present, you will increase your self awareness noticing what is right in front of you. Being able to WATCH AND WITNESS what is happening allows you to choose the feelings that you wish to experience. You’ll discover healthy boundaries and learn to problem solve, ask questions and validate your self.
Spiritual Well Being-You will develop curiosity and connection during your time outdoors while creating an experience with no judgments or criticism. Being in nature teaches you that being a part of something bigger than yourself is the key to feeling connected and creating strong communities in your life.
Social Well Being-The quality of your interactions with other participants reflects your ability to be vulnerable and open to others. Learning and discovering your true self while sharing your story teaches you that you can be accepted and loved for who you are in all areas of your life.
